Now Democrats want to control your Retirement!

This headline should scare the hell out of everyone: House Democrats Contemplate Abolishing 401(k) Tax Breaks. Talk about a knee jerk reaction to the markets going south. Are we that dumb when we invest that we don’t realize there is a chance we may lose money in the markets? Now because most of us have lost money, the Democrats are taking this chance to nationalize our Retirement. I hope everyone realizes they are doing this already; it’s called Social Security. We all know how wonderful of a job the government has done with that program. For all the money I have paid into it, I will likely never see a dime of it. And now on top of that the Democrats will force me to pay an additional 5% of my paycheck to a nationalized 401K, with no matching like many companies offer. I guess they will promise this time not to dip their greedy hands into it like they did Social Security. Do you really think you can trust them?

This is another example again of the stark contrast between conservatives that believe that people should have personal freedom and use their personal judgment when it comes to their lives, and liberal Democrats who think that they and the government know how best to take care of you and your situation. They are going to rob us of our freedoms one by one, and they are trying to steal this one by scaring us because of how the market has been.

Here are some questions we should be asking. Who is going to pay for this new federal program?  Why should we trust the government to run this program when they have destroyed Social Security? What about personal choice in what I want to invest in for my retirement? What happens if I die and I have still money left in this new government retirement program? Is the government going to keep it like they do with the money you pay into Social Security?

This proposal is nothing more than another avenue down the road of socialism. If the comments by Obama saying he wants to spread the wealth didn’t bother you, this proposal should scare you no matter what political party you are for. We need John McCain as President if anything as a buffer for the American people to keep the ultra-liberals in the House and Senate in check, just like Clinton did when the Republicans controlled Congress after 1994.

This program has potential to ruin the lives of millions of Americans at a time in their lives when they should be relaxing. I am not saying that 401K’s are a sure bet, but I trust private retirement accounts that I control over the government running the program every single time.

  1. When I was busy working as a professional engineer I personally had no time for or a real concept on how bad the real world is with much too many liars, thugs, bullies, abusers, distorters, racists , thieves, now too.. and someone how next I could not help but encountered many of them, but I had by now learned how to best deal with them. It is a two fold approach, first the Public exposure, the pen is mightier than the sword, and a good name is worth more than any silver and gold. But next also there is rightful demand, a need for their termination of employment, their real prosecution of the guilty, bad persons. Both of these approaches personally so works best, for everyone’s’ betterment. Ideally and rightfully I do not hesitate to recommend any crook, bad minister, bad pastor, bad news reporter as well to be fired , terminated from his our her job. Sadly there are many people in this world who are hatred mongers, they have a false persistent agendas against some others, and they for many wrong reasons now wrongfully pursue much of their time in these matters now too foolishly and unwisely. Too often they the bad people firstly proclaim themselves as angels of lights, good Samaritans try to help others, but rather it too often seems they are merely trying to gain an advantage over others, and to promote themselves in some powerful, key job, economic, superior positions under these false agendas, disguise’s in all kinds of social groups now too, the religious, political, cultural, governmental. Now I really hate these types of snakes and I rightfully do not hesitate to expose them once I encounter them.

Now we all know that in north America we all do really have freedom of religion, freedom of choice, freedom of speech, the right to be hard now as well.. Some people are now falsely abusing these right to promote a false war against a particular Christian group, the Pentecostal ones, or even the Catholic ones, etc. When I see this kind of unacceptable personal behavior I too do not accept it but do loudly object to it to all and do ask these hate mongrels be immediately fired, put in jail as well. No matter who they are now too.

“Sarah Palin losing her sway over Christian voters
    http://communities.canada.com/vancouversun/blogs/thesearch/default.aspx

The Sarah Palin effect, which brought evangelicals and other Christians rushing on to the Republican wagon when her nomination was announced, is now fading. In some cases fast.

A poll by the respected Pew Forum has found that some white evangelicals are losing their excitement about the political coupling of John McCain and Palin, who has deep Pentecostal roots in Alaska. White evangelicals, the crucial group that got George W. Bush into the White House in the past two elections, are beginning to edge away from the Republicans. Their support has dropped from 74 to 67 per cent in the past week or so.
Meanwhile, pollsters are beginning to predict that mainline Protestants, who tend to be more liberal than evangelicals, are moving firmly to Barack Obama and Joe Biden. The Democrat contender is now attracting 48 per cent of mainline Christians’ votes. As well, non-Hispanic Catholics have also switched and are now leaning more to Obama-Biden than McCain-Palin.

Thanks for your input Todd, this is the second time you posted back to me on my blog, unusual for a news reporter to comment on my blog too.http://anyonecare.wordpress.com/2008/08/30/sarah-palin-already-has-energized-conservative-religious-leaders/#comment-1746#comment-1746

    >>A poll by the respected Pew Forum has found that some white evangelicals are losing their excitement about the political coupling of John McCain and Palin

My personal straight forward, honest, personal summation, experiences of Politics, dealing with you, the Vancouver Sun as well, and pollsters… they are statistically just liars, biased, people with hidden agendas.. and I told you that now in writing too many times too.. I rightfully have no respect for what you write still about Christians, evangelicals and so do many others now too.

what about the polls that show 30 percent of white people will also not vote for a black persons? racisms exists in the churches and police stations now too.

And my own experiences with Canadian liberal news media, liberals, liberal politicians are so blind they had undeniably now underestimated the starch of the all of evangelical churches, who had themselves formed the Reform, Alliance, and the new Conservative party, and next had wiped out both the old Conservatives under Brian Mulroney, and the Liberals under Jean Chrétien and Paul Martin.. I saw it coming , wrote about it 2 decades ago, but you did don’t see it coming. Do get an honest job now..

But the fact that Sarah Palin is getting now so much free publicity attention even from the liberals, democrats it all next simply means when I see the devil breathing on her back, she must be doing something really really good

Any possible Christian support of Obama is another liberal, democratic, news media false spins.. just like the devil often dos the same thing.. I read many of their emotional, gushy, lying, slanderous , sewage posts, opinions, but they are spins, lies and not facts and the US news media has lost loads of credibity, CNN especially the big liars, in their slanted election presentations, and that fact is not unnoticed.. but that was the same complaint thing they had often said about the Canadian News media, CBC, under the liberals who lost next.. wow!

And basically too no true, real practicing Christian would support the clearly anti Christ Obama.. who does supports abortions, gay marriages, alcohol as well..

My site statistics undeniably do show Sarah Palin is the most read topic in the last few months of over 100 different subjects, topics on my 6 related blogs, and that support I encounter is the tip of the iceberg only.. 80 percent of the posts read are about her.

Even the Canadian PM Stephen Harper, and the federal election. Bilden, McCain, Obama do not get 10 percent of her attention too.. the undeniably crooked Christian Missionary alliance church got just as much attention now, 10 percent as they all did as well.. note this a new runner up in reading POPULARITY is the bad RCMP, bad Traffic cops of Alberta next.

As I also wrote often to thousands, Canadian politicians and news editors too now.. The truth about the ungodly Pentecostals bashings, wars against the Pentecostals on the net, even by the Vancouver Sun now too, or anyone else… is that I also still do not have to accept it or put up with it still too, it is an unacceptable perversity, human rights abuse, immoral. And it better stop otherwise I too will have to write to a lot more people about it too.. very much more..

  2. Don’t cry wolf just yet. This was an idea presented by a witness in front of a subcommittee that is looking into ways to improve retirement programs in general. Two Democratic house members found he idea intriguing. No bill was introduced, no votes taken. If we panicked over everything that was discussed in committee we’d all have to be committed.

House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller, D-California, and Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Washington, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, are looking at redirecting tax breaks to a new system of guaranteed retirement accounts to which all workers would be obliged to contribute.

A plan by Teresa Ghilarducci, professor of economic-policy analysis at the New School for Social Research in New York, contains ideas on how to accomplish this. She testified last week before Miller’s Education and Labor Committee on her proposal. Her proposal was viewed as interesting by these 2 house members.

This is a stupid idea, but far from being anywhere near a formal proposal. I can’t imagine how this would ever even get to the floor as a serious idea. (Iknow weirder things have happened.) Companies would stop providing matching funds and as a result, people would make a mass exodus from investing in 401K plans.

I honestly believe that this is being blown way out of proportion as a political tactic with only 9 days left before the election.

  3. This is why a Democratic congress and a Democratic President will not work. Same goes for Republican/Republican. There needs to be diversity within Washington or bills and legislation will get passed erratically without some sort of formal debate on the pros and cons between parties.

  4. “Any possible Christian support of Obama is another liberal, democratic, news media false spins…And basically too no true, real practicing Christian would support the clearly anti Christ Obama.. who does supports abortions, gay marriages, alcohol as well”

The problem with this statement is the assumption that these issues – gay marriage and abortion – are the only “religious” issues and the only ones the church should care about. With this presupposition it can only be concluded that any Christian should check is ability to think at the door and go vote for the pro-choice/ anti-gay candidate. That’d be way too easy – my choice would be made every year based on that criteria. Of course God cares about these issues and is very clear about how he feels about each in the Bible. However, it’s been grossly overlooked that He has a tremendous concern for ALL the issues. Poverty – Isaiah 58:6-7, Acts 11:29; Economy – 1 Timothy 6:10, 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15; Govt Corruption – John 19:12-16; Healthcare – Luke 4:40…I could go on, but you get the point.

I’m a true real practicing Christian. I’ll be voting for Obama Nov 4th and that doesn’t make me any less of a Christian. Sure I stand against Obama’s views on the few issues you mentioned, but I’ve taken ALL the issues into consideration and do truly believe that God is just as concerned about the empoverished single parent family as He is the aborted baby. You can’t make blanket statements about what Christians ought to be doing or who they ought to vote for. My decision was based on what I know the Bible to say and my conscious and prayerful effort to make the best decision, not CNN.

Btw, the tax break thing is a bad idea. Sorry, didn’t have time to get to that

  5. The mandated 5% they want to take out of my check is what gets me. What if I don’t need to save for retirement because I’ve already got enough money. They want to take 5% out of my check anyway. What about the match I get from my current 401k? I won’t get that from the government I’m sure. The government has proven they’re not very good with money, there’s no way in hell I’m going to trust them with 5% of my paychecks.

  6. The cries of “don’t let the liberals control both congress and the White House” is the sound of a waning campaign with no new ideas. Conservatives picked the president twice in a row now. They had their chance. Amazingly, they picked G.W. TWICE! We’ll all be paying for that misguided mistake for years to come. And now Republicans are brazenly asking that we be fearful of a Democratically controlled Executive and Legislative branch and pick yet another one of their poorly-chosen presidential candidates. Why in the world should anyone pay attention to that? The Republican track record speaks for itself and it’s speaking volumes right now. Conservatives had their chance and now we all have them to thank for the last 8 years and the mess we’re in now. Einstein said the definition of insanity is to continue doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. With that in mind, going with the Conservative’s choice for president this year would surely be insane. We’ve all had enough of that.

I agree with Cindy. The 401k tax thing is another non-issue being used to score political points among the party faithful and just another cog in the fear machine.

    Comment by Scott | October 28, 2008

  7. Scott,

I think you are underestimating the unltra-liberal faction of the Democratic Party. I think though to say is that McCain is just like Bush is like you have said a non-issue to score political points and another cog in the fear machine. The fact is John McCain was nowhere near the first choice of Conservatives but some how still got the Parties nomination. We support him but we much rather have somebody more Conservative on the ticket. While on its face this may seem like a non-issue, but when you add all the other questionable associations Obama has, it paints a frighting picture.

    Comment by thedeuceblog | October 28, 2008

  8. Since we’re back on the Obama issue, let me make a few comments so everyone understands…

As much as I think McCain should’ve ran 4 years ago and knocked Bush out (I didn’t vote for Bush), I still think he’s the best choice, and here’s why:

Everyone has a little liberal inside of them, and that’s looking out for the best interests of their friends, family, and neighbors. Everyone also has a little conservative in them, whether they want to admit it or not, and that is looking out for the best interests of themselves.

I am person of personal belief that our country has been successful because of our foundation from our founding fathers, which is Capitalism. Why stray away from that? Why stray away from your rights stated in the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights, built around capitalism; free enterprise, prosperity, individual responsibility, private property, and personal achievement? You will be doing that if you vote Barack Obama whom is/was an associate of the Socialist Party USA. If you allow socialistic views to be put into our society, you will no longer have those given rights as American citizens. These rights diminish each and every we put someone like him into office!

Obama believes in adequate housing for ALL, which is a view of the Socialist Party USA. He has worked with ACORN to give unqualified individuals mortgages. This was put into play during the Clinton era, which has caused the current housing/mortgage crisis we are seeing now. Think about it…how can a person make $40,000/year afford a $200,000 home? This is the stuff Obama supports!!

If you value your given rights as Americans, you need to make the right choice…vote for McCain. He may not be a great speaker, but he believes in the foundation of this country, and to preserve our rights, that’s what we need.

  9. Though it’s used as a platform, I don’t think that McCain is Bush. However, for purposes of political advancement, McCain has allied himself with Bush closely over the last few years. It’s astonishing, since I don’t think McCain really thinks much of Bush (and rightly so). So, we’re in agreement that McCain is not Bush, though their policies are strikingly similar. But my question remains: Why should we trust Conservatives to pick a winner? Bush was your guy for 8 years. Now everyone wants to run away from him, including McCain. A poor track record is a poor track record. I understand that you may not agree with Obama’s policies, but don’t you think it’s time to try something new? I mean, the writing is on the wall. The Conservative policies are clearly not working.

Indeed, there are ultra-liberal factions of the Democratic party. The problem with the theory that the country will swing hard-left is that there are also a great number of moderates in the party. As a Conservative, you might not agree with some policy decisions of the Obama presidency, but I’m sure you will find out along with the rest of us that much of what is accomplished will be more moderate in nature. These people, liberal and moderates alike, all need to be re-elected and going hard-left won’t help that happen. They know as well as anyone that staying near the center is the place to be.

Regarding the “questionable associations”: They are fabricated talking points, on both sides, again aiming squarely at the party faithful who have nothing else to talk about. Really, nobody else cares. It’s silly to continue to bring it up when we have very real problems to concern ourselves with. Nobody cares that McCain was involved in the Keating 5 or about Palin’s association with a secessionist group in Alaska (talk about un-American). It’s silly to reduce our conversations about policy and idealogy down to conversations about nothing.

    Comment by Scott | October 28, 2008

  10. While I disagree with your assertion that “questionable associations” are fabricated talking points, especially when one of those associations is a domestic terriost just like Timothy McVeigh, but less successful. I do agree that we need a fundamental on who we elect in office whether it is a Democrats or Republicans that we elect to office.

    Comment by thedeuceblog | October 28, 2008

  11. Just a few questions regarding “associations”:

If Bill Ayers has been tried in an American court of law and acquitted, then on whose authority is it that people continue to call him a terrorist?

Is it not the American and Christian belief that people can be rehabilitated and become upstanding members of society? What would Jesus say?

Why is Ayers now being tried in the McCain campaign for a crime of which he was acquitted in the American judicial system?

Would it be considered pro-American or anti-American to discount the validity of the rulings in our very own American court system?

If you attend block-watch meetings in your neighborhood and a neighbor listed as a sex offender shows up, does that make you a sex offender also?

Is your character somehow compromised because of your proximity to this person?

Just a few questions to ponder. They don’t solve anything but sometimes I think it’s too easy to jump to unfair conclusions about people and forget that same level of unfairness of conclusion could be drawn about any of us. It’s convenient to want to believe that Barack Obama is evil and he’s a Muslim extremist and he’ll seek retribution against whites and he’s un-American and a non-patriot and he won’t be able to get security clearance as president and all the other stuff that gets whispered because it aids your belief that he’s bad for America. But do you really, truly believe it? He’s as American and patriotic as any of us. That’s why I think talking about that silliness is a discussion about nothing and takes our attention from real concerns. Disagree with his standings on the issues, his Democratic philosophy, his tax plan, whatever, just keep it real because that’s what actually matters in the end. I, of course, support Obama and I think that we, Conservatives and Liberals alike, in agreement or disagreement, will find that he will be a strong leader and he’ll renew our standing in the world. Vote Obama.

    Comment by Scott | October 28, 2008

  12. Obama did not work with ACORN to give unqualified people mortgages. If there’s a fact to support that I’d like to see it. Rob, you said “Obama believes in adequate housing for all.” How does that translate to giving $40K/ year earner a $200K home?

Also, what specifically about Obama’s plan is socialist? The part about taxing the wealthiest Americans more than others? (we already do that). What about McCain’s plans to reform entitlement programs, fund programs for special needs kids (with your tax dollars) and tax your health insurance is not ‘socialist’? What’s the difference?

Comment by Ryan Scott | October 28, 2008

  13. Ryan, I’m with you. The cries of “Socialism!” are falling on deaf ears among most of the electorate because when we study the true meaning of Socialism we quickly find that McCain’s definition is missing the mark by far. McCain’s very own programs and policies, such as his refundable health care tax credit, match up nicely with his own definition. McCain must also be a Socialist. Our tax system, as Ryan stated, is already progressive in nature in that the wealthiest are taxed the most and vice versa. If that’s Socialism, then we’ve been Socialists for a long, long time. And, Rob, the idea that we should blame the poor for our housing crisis is ridiculous. The Community Reinvestment Act played only a small part in the current meltdown. Mortgage lenders who chose gambling and risk-taking over solid business practices combined with lousy regulation are far more responsible for this mess than anyone.

    Comment by Scott | October 28, 2008

  14. Scott their is no doubt we do have some socialist things working in our government today. The difference is that Obama wants to lead us down the fast track towards more. This idea that Obama has it right when it come to taxes and the economy is a farce. Look at look at France and their high unemployment and inflation and tell me how that is working out. I will go into detail about the problem in a later blog, but the fact remains, Less taxes equals more reveune for the government. Take a look at Ireland and see how their economy has flourished. Maybe if we quit spending money on pork, and sending aid all over the world and to the U.N. which is a complete joke we would have money to take care of our own. Lets explore ways to cut cost first before we say tax ourselves to death.

    Comment by thedeuceblog | October 28, 2008

  15. I don’t think raising taxes on the government-subsidized wealthy while cutting taxes on the struggling middle class qualifies as a “fast track” to Socialism. However, it might be more of a fast track to fixing a tremendous imbalance in the way that the classes are taxed. The practice of giving the rich tax advantages and hoping their wealth “trickles down” to the rest hasn’t exactly proven itself to be a viable strategy.

    Comment by Scott | October 28, 2008

  16. Hey Darryl,
I wanted to respond to your blog but was not sure on how to do it on your website, so I decided to do this by e-mail. With that said, I would like to clarify a few details in your last blog. First of all, we really need to pay attention to history and also need to be aware of our language.
As far as social security is concerned. The people that are really going to lose out on that deal are number 1- the baby boomers ( there are just too many) and number 2- the generation that was born after 2000, which is refered to generation Y. The reason why they are getting the short end of the stick has to do with shear numbers. Generation X, which would include both you and me, has a population that is much smaller. So with generation Y, which is much bigger, along with whatever money is leftover from supporting the baby boomers after they die, will be sufficient to give Generation X some retirement money. However, the real reason social security does not work is because people are living longer and inflation has driven up prices, which means the “almighty” dollar is not going as far as it used to. Now, social security should not be your only avenue for retirement savings. There are 401Ks, but if you are really looking for something to give you options (notice I did not use the word freedom- will explain later), you can open up an IRA with a brokerage firm. IRAs give you much more investment options than 401s because what you can invest in with a 401 is limited to the plan agreement set up by your employer. 401s generally only lets us invest in mutual funds, where as an IRA, you are able to purchase mutual funds, stocks, bonds, CDs, and options.
Now a big reason why the government would believe that we are not capable of making our own investment decisions lies with the fact that they have done studies on Americas reitrement readiness, and it is concluded that most of us are not ready. The average american is $9,000 in credit card debt. By in large, we are socialized to be hyperconsumers and buy a bunch of shit that makes no sense to own in the first place and use credit to do so. Even the founding fathers knew that the American people to some degree were not capable to make competant decisions on their own all the time. The gentleman on our $10 bill, Alexander Hamilton once said, “the communities divide themselves into the few and the many- the first are the rich and wellborn, the second are the masses of people. The masses of people are turbulent and seldom judge or determine right.” This is why I disregard the term freedom. The word freedom has absolutely no meaning at all. True freedom means no laws or being free from restriction. Who wants to live in a lawless society? I guess it would work if we are all rational beings and really gave a shit about each other. However, because of rationalized self interest and the rise of individualism, it is no wonder that we have murder, rape, and corporate assholes spending $500,000 at the spa after the American tax payers bail them out (this was done by AIG executives, in case you didn’t know). It was Sun Ra (musician) who said “Freedom is not all it is cracked up to be. As a matter of fact, the Liberty Bell is cracked, and freedom allows people to do crack.” Essentially, what is being said is that the freedoms or norms that a lot of us believe in are popular but not always right. If we were truely free, we could do whatever in the hell we wanted. This is why freedom should not be associated with the term choices. Of course, one more concept to consider on this conversation has to do with decision making ablilities. Have you ever thought why you make the decisions that you do? If you really get down to it, we never make decisions on our own. Our decision making abilities are dependent on exposure to experiences. If you have never heard of an IRA, how the hell are you supposed to invest in one? The term chioces, which most people loosely associate with freedoms, assumes that we are all equal. If you mean equality by the vote, we are. If you mean by the dollar, we are not.
There are a few fundamental problems our economy which has produced the need for Socialism, which by the way, I am sure most Republican, if they really knew what Socialism meant, would be somewhat in favor for. Socialism simply implies anything ran by the government. This would include meat inspection. Would you buy meat that has not been inspected? How about fire fighting? At one point the fire fighting industry was ran by private companies. Of course, they would negotiate with you how much you are going to pay them as your house was burning down. This is why it had to be socialized. How about the state highway system, airports, ports, train systems? These are all provided by the governement. Companies will not invest in infrastructure. It is not monetarily efficient for them to do so. However, without infrastructure, they also would not survive. So without these social programs, Capitalism would not be able to flurrish.
Another reason why these social programs are necessary for the survival of the economy is because they create jobs. This is known as demand side economics. Essentially the reason why socialism helps the economy is because while social programs are creating jobs, they also create consumers. Consumers spend money. Corporations make money, get bigger (because Capitalism has a grow or die, expantionist nature), and higher more people. Keep in mind, this is a simplified explanation of demand side economics, as I am about to give a high level understanding of supply side economics otherwise known as free market or trickle down economics.
So, essentially by cutting taxes, we cut government jobs. By doing so, we cut out consumers from the market. By cutting out consumers, less people are spending money. If less people are spending money, Corporations lose money. When corporations lose money, the first thing to go is the labor. This creates a domino effect of unemployment and even recession. I find it funny, that people have associated Barack Obama’s comment about spreading wealth with socialism. I hate to break the news, socialism has been here for quite a few decades. The largest employer in the United States is the United States Federal Government, not to mention all the state and local government employees in all this Socialism.
Also, there has to be some regulation on business. At the time that there was not, people worked long hours for low, barely living wages. There were 9 year olds in factories. People would find rats or fingers in their food. Because of competition, companies have to cut costs wherever they can. The purpose of regulation is to also provide stability in the market. When the government deregulates, there is more fluctuation. A prime example of this was the Securities acts of 1933 and 1934. They were designed to create a “fair and orderly” market. They implemented such things as a circuit breaker, which is if the stock market falls to a certain percentage, trading is halted on the market to prevent further chaos and fear. Fear is a big driver of the market in a negative way. This is why stabilization is necessary. People in their 30s are selling off their investments at a lose when they have years for the market to recover and make money.
This all boils down to the fact that people in the United states are poorly educated, lack critical thinking abilities, have a poor understanding of language, are malnurished, impovrished, and lack proper medical treatment. By the way the majority of people that I just described are children and the elderly. As the wealthiest nation in the world, we also have the largest percentage of children living in poverty compared to other civiilzed countries. So if you would like solutions to cure our ailing country, let me know. I will include that in my next installment if you so choose to hear. I also have more comments on previous blogs as well, but I did not want to drown you in information.

Sorry this is so long Darryl, and if there is anything that you disagree with, please let me know. I am open to debate.
